HANSKA, Minn. — The Hanska community is mourning the deaths of Paul Rewitzer, 73, and Paulette Rewitzer, 74, who were killed in a tragic two-vehicle collision early Saturday morning on Brown County Road 13.

The crash occurred shortly after midnight north of Brown County Road 22, prompting a response from the Brown County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies arrived at the scene and discovered two heavily damaged vehicles, a Chevrolet Silverado and an Oldsmobile, involved in the collision.

According to authorities, the driver of the Silverado was identified as 28-year-old Shianne Lee Escobar of Hanska. When deputies arrived, Escobar was reportedly found outside the Oldsmobile.

Inside the Oldsmobile, emergency responders located Paul and Paulette Rewitzer, who both suffered fatal injuries in the crash. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The circumstances leading up to the collision remain under investigation. Authorities have reported that Escobar is facing two counts of vehicular homicide in connection with the deaths of Paul and Paulette Rewitzer.
