According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 3:18 a.m. on southbound Highway 99, north of Broyles Road, between the Nord and Vina areas. Authorities reported that Montero was driving a 2019 Nissan Altima when the vehicle crossed the center median and entered the path of an oncoming 2017 Kenworth truck tractor. The collision resulted in severe damage to the Nissan, leaving Montero trapped inside the vehicle.
